Jorja Smith (from England)

MusicLoad presents the music videos of Jorja Smith
The July 20 London Electric Brixton show is sold out!
Jorja Smith is a rising star from Walsall, an industrial town in the West Midlands of England.

At the age of 16, Jorja was inspired to write the first song in the music video below, titled Beautiful Little Fools, after reading "The Great Gatsby" and, in particular, a passage from the book in which Daisy expresses her hopes that her infant daughter would "be a fool - that's the best thing a girl can be in this world, a beautiful little fool". Jorja took issue with this statement and so used the phrase to form the basis of her song, in which she laments the restrictions that society and established social constructs place upon women.

The music video for the track - released on International Women's Day - draws upon the "Gatsby" aesthetic and sees three versions of Jorja from different walks of life crossing paths...

The video was directed by Hector Dockrill and produced by Stephanie Paeplow of Pulse Films

The music was performed and written by Jorja Smith, produced by Charlie, mixed & mastered by Engine Earz (first featured on our network here in 2011) and engineered by Riccardo Damian.

Jorja Smith - Beautiful Little Fools

The next song and music video is heavy. It was directed by Drew Cox, produced by FAMM, executive produced by Z. The Boxer/Policeman/Hoodie character was played by Kevin Bangato. The girls were played by Erin and Evie. The make-up was by Carol Lopez Reid using Nars make-up. Flips by Eric Mitchell. Lighting by Liam O'Donovan.

The music produced by Joice with additional production, mixing & mastering by Engine Earz.

Jorja Smith - Blue Lights

The next music video below is a homemade video that was filmed, directed and edited by Jorja Smith, herself. The music is performed by Jorja Smith, produced by Cadenza and mixed & mastered by Engine Earz.

Jorja Smith - Where Did I Go?

The final music video below is to Jorja Smith's song titled A Prince. The song features recording artist Maverick Sabre.

The song was produced by Seemore and mixed & mastered by Engine Earz.

The video animation is by Yao Xiang and was produced by FAMM.

Stephanie McKay - Tasty Live Performances

MusicLoad presents live filmed performances of Stephanie McKay - Photo by Marc Baptiste
Stephanie McKay photo by Marc Baptiste
Five years ago at this link, MusicLoad first featured Stephanie McKay and the studio version of her impassioned soul song titled Tell It Like It Is.

Today we are proud to present more from this very soulful artist. Just below is a live take of of her song titled Jackson Avenue.

Stephanie McKay - Jackson Avenue (live)

And, this is another timeless and very passionate live recording of Stephanie singing her song titled Tell It Like It Is, not to be confused with the love song with the same titled first recorded by Aaron Neville in 1966.

This is Stephanie's own song that is about the harsh realities of the world and society out of control and disillusioned life. She has used the song to bring attention to the war in Darfur.

This performance below is live at Joe's Pub in New York City. The video and audio was recorded on on a single handheld camcorder with no edits, but the pure passion of her cause blazes through.

And the final live recordings below were filmed at the Jazz:Re:Found Jazz Festival in Vercelli, Italy

The Diamond Light

MusicLoad.Com presents The Diamond Light and their coolest music videos

Below are three cool music videos by a Los Angeles, California based band known as The Diamond Light. They have a May 2017 residency occurring at The Satellite in Silver Lake, Los Angeles, California. If you can make it to the Satellite, we highly recommend eating at L&M Oyster Bar which is just a few doors West of The Satellite. L&M sells more fine food than oysters too. Reservations are a good idea

Naga asks Jagger, "Why you still doing it?" He says, "I don't know, I'm still enjoying it, I guess"

It just doesn't get any cooler than this... A great blues record by the Rolling Stones titled Blue & Lonely, is a cover song record that gives tribute to some of their favorite blues influences... (see the music videos here)

But what also makes this album cool is this Mick Jagger interview by Naga Munchetty of BBC's Breakfast, where she pulls out a load of information that isn't normally so easily accessible... The multi-faceted women knows how to gets down to the nitty gritty with Mick Jagger, with grace & style.

All the questions and answers are what one would expect from greatness with a humble attitude. The final question by Naga is when she asks Jagger..."you have no regrets, do you?" and he says "I don't actually. No."

Purple - Hard Rocking Fun from Texas

MusicLoad presents Purple

A band simply known as Purple is a great hard rock trio that kills! And they know how to have fun while they do it. Hanna Brewer is on drums and vocals, Joe "Prankser" Cannariato is on bass guitar and Taylor Busby on guitar and vocals. They recently returned home to Texas fresh off their European tour of several sold out shows.

The very cool basic and raw live recording below perfectly captures the essence of the coolness of Purple and the shooters and audio engineers deserve a big thumbs up. It was filmed in Austin last year by a local Texas event website called Do512 with sponsorship from Bud Light. Purple exudes the kind of unadulterated pure energy that we love and we appreciate those who know how to capture those kind of moments so well. mlv

Lianne La Havas - Forget + Is Your Love Big Enough

MusicLoad presents the accidental artist, Lianne La Havas

As a huge fan of Lianne La Havas who has caught more than a couple of her live shows, I was mesmerized by her music upon first listen. Later, I discovered the story of the ex-boyfriend, who if I am not mistaken is a songwriter himself, and that the bad breakup she had with him is what drove her to pick up the guitar and begin to write songs in the first place.  That puts her on the list of great accidental artists.  Like so many great inventions, many of them are accidents.

Her album must have been a skewer through the heart of the ex. It must have made him feel like the target of a voodoo doll ritual when he came around to listening to it, or hearing the snickers behind his back, by those who know, wherever he goes for the rest of his life. I pity the man, but he rightly can take a little bit of credit for making some great music history.

The song below starts off: "You spend all your time writing love songs, but you don't love me..."

Lianne La Havas - Forget

The thing I love about this next take is that it's just Lianne and her guitar over her shoulder, without a band and how she has such a unique one of kind guitar style. The first line is "Found myself in a second-hand guitar..."

Lianne La Havas - Is Your Love Big Enough? (Live on Taratata TV in France)

Lianne La Havas is one of the great living authentic self created artists of substance out there. I recommend listening to more of her excellent repertoire. Below are some more handpicked tracks featured on this network.

Ziggy Marley's Fly Rasta w/ U-Roy (Grammy Win, Best Reggae Album)

MusicLoad.Com presents Ziggy Marley Fly Rasta

Big congratulations to Ziggy Marley for his 4th Grammy win in the Best Reggae Album category in this 2015 round for his album Fly Rasta.  His first Best New Album win occurred in 1997 with Fallen From Babylon.  The next win was in 2006 with his Love Is My Religion album.  Then, in 2013 his won Best Reggae Album, again, for Ziggy Marley in Concert album.  Then there is another string of other Grammy wins for over the years such as when he won Best Musical Album for Children in 2009. And before that, in 1988 he won the Grammy for Best Reggae Recording for Conscious Party and in 1989 he won Best Reggae Recording for One Bright Day.  In terms of Grammy wins, Ziggy Marley has proven to be a long term dominator.

More concisely put, Ziggy Marley grooves, works hard and he is humble, just like his father who was his role model. Awards aside, the groove is in Ziggy Marley & Company's music and how it makes you feel, which is great. Turn it up, dance, sing along and enjoy!

That is the case with this nice take below of long time MusicLoad favorite artist, Gaby Moreno. This was filmed in the studio of KUTX-FM at the University of Texas at Austin, a NPR affiliate.

A multi-lingual artist originally from Guatemala, Gaby fluently speaks Spanish, English and The Blues. This song featured below is her own Spanish language original. It was track #6 from her third album, entirely in Spanish, which was named Postales. It helped lead her to becoming the 2013 Latin Grammy winner in the Best New Artist category, a well deserved award.

Her repertoire is not limited to Spanish and she definitely has what it takes to win English language Grammys in numerous categories in the future, based on her genuine authenticity underneath and on top of her uncontrived music of substance. Quite a rarity.
